Intakes Hours

Wednesday & Thursday 9:00am - 4:00pm

 

Services are inclusive regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, religion, income or sexual orientation. All programs provided by the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society are free of charge. The office is situated in downtown Nanaimo with access to public transportation, free parking and close to other community resources. The office is located in a building that is wheel chair accessible.

Intake Needs Assessment Program  

Relationship is the foundation of good service delivery and the functional needs assessment provided through the Intake Support Services Program is the structural cornerstone. Outreach Rehabilitation & Care Management

The purpose of this program is to promote independence and an elevated level of functioning in all areas of daily living for persons with an acquired brain injury. The ORCM worker works with individuals to holistically address social, cognitive, physical, emotional and vocational needs. This may include long-term support to maintain independent living, promotion of safety/harm reduction and addressing short-term stabilization and/or crisis intervention needs that may arise from time to time. more...

Disability Assistance

The Ministry of Employment and Assistance requires persons with an acquired brain injury to complete a 23-page detailed form, called the Persons with a Disability Application. The Disability Assistance Program (DAP) worker plays a crucial role in assisting applicants to complete an error free application, including the collection of supporting medical documentation. more...

Telephone Outreach Peer Support Program

TOPS is another new initiative for the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society. This Telephone Outreach Peer Support Program is under the umbrella of our Volunteer Skills Development Program. Through initial and ongoing training and workshops, TOPS volunteers provide friendship, information and resources to survivors and care providers impacted by an acquired brain injury. more...
